Jett was honored by being presented the Elmer Valentine Award and became the first honoree to perform at the SSMF.
Along with the award the Mayor of West Hollywood Abbe Land marked August 1st as Joan Jett Day in West Hollywood. The mayor said that Joan Jett has done so much for both men and women and has been a positive influence for Land.

Jett danced around on stage with the guitar giving audiences a small taste of the performance that followed with her band The Blackhearts.
Master of Ceremony Bob Buchmann brought on presenters including comedian Magaret Cho, Pat Smear of the Germs and actress Carmen Electra.
The owners of the Whiskey A Go-Go and the Roxy presented Jett with the Elmer Valentine Award for her legacy on the Strip.
Friends and colleagues of Jett sent their love via video message that shared personal and emotional stories.

"Joan is more than a human being, she is a person. She is a wonderful woman and still more gorgeous than ever," Fowley said.
Politician Howard Dean sent his regards for Joan's help with his campaign and being on the same level political wise.
Members of Blondie gave condolences and even revealed a rare picture of Joan Jett in a dress.
Celebrities in attendance, musicians both new and old were thrilled to be in attendance to give tribute to one of rock ‘n roll’s female icons.
There’s still two days of musical acts and excitement to go at Day 2, August 2, and Day 3, August 3, of the SSMF.
