The resilience of a father doing what it takes to get his daughter back in "Inescapable" takes suspenseful and frightful turns.
The intensity of the film continues to grow as the audience discovers secrets from the past of Lead character Adib Abdel Kareem, played by Alexander Siddog.
Adib must leave his wife and youngest daughter in Canada and return to Damascus after his oldest daughter goes missing on a trip to Damascus.
Having escaped prosecution in Damascus for criminal accusations against him and made a life for himself in Canada, Adib must work fast and stealthy to keep himself safe as he searches for clues and uncovers a web of conspiracies on his journey to save his daughter.
Adib recruits the help of former fiancée Fatima, played by Marisa Tomei, as she comes face-to-face with Adib after years of not knowing what happened to him. Tension escalates as Fatima becomes jealous as she discovers Adib has moved on and created a family without her.
His past keeps popping up as he gets closer to finding his daughter. His own personal struggles and demons intensify as life becomes difficult for him to handle.
Seeking the help of Canadian embassy worker Paul, played by Joshua Jackson, looks to be both beneficial and detrimental as twist and turns reveal secrets and promiscuity.
The story is very well thought out with the audience discovering aspects of the story as the main character Adib does as well. It seems to start off slow with almost nothing being explained. Adib's daughter seems to have just disappeared in Damascus at the end of a trip she took to figure out where her father came from.
The ending is satisfactory but if audiences do not pay close attention throughout the film it can get confusing.
I give this film a 4 out of 5 Popcorns. The story reminds me of "Taken" with Liam Neeson but with less action and so much politics in it. The acting is serious and well done. The story entices audiences as it keeps revealing the plot along with the main character discovering information. The place it did lack in was the action. With so much going on it could have used more action but for what the film does, it does it well.
"Inescapable" out on DVD now.
