The classic horror genre comes to print in "Living Dead Magazine" with content about cult classics and the actors who star in them.
This is a new magazine that will published quarterly and distributed nationwide, and in digital format so those outside the US can have a way to read it too.
"Already we have people from all throughout the US, UK and Canada contributing to our kickstarter and getting on our waiting list for subscriptions. We have big name backers and supporters already of the magazine like artists Chet Zar, Devon Deveraux, J.K. Woodward, and director Fred Olen Ray, just to name a few," Editor-in-chief Deanna Uutela said.
Staff writers have been hard at work conducting interviews, investigating leads and creating quality work for publication. The topics range so every horror genre fanatic will have something to look forward to.
"We have articles covering the following topics: Tim Burton burlesque, Horror Decor, Killer Kitty Clothing Interview, Interviews with horror celebs Carel Struycken & Ayse Nicole Howard, Famous Haunted Locations, Horror Art, B Movie Review, and a lot more," Uutela said.
The content appeals to not just the group of people who enjoy the horror genre but seeps into the category for the people who enjoy living the horror genre, the people who want to visit the scariest places during vacation, who attend horror events all year round and the people who watch horror movies no matter how low budget it is.
"I am especially proud of the fact that we orchestrate all of our own photoshoots, including the design, photographer, makeup artist, location, etc., so everything we show has our unique spin unlike anything else you will see in any other magazine," Uutela said.
Uutela herself steps into the role of editor in chief with much experience and background in not just publications but in the horror genre as well. Her work shows a dedication and passion for the subject which will hopefully drive this magazine to succeed.
"My background is in Journalism and I have over 10 years of writing and editing experience working on magazines and newspapers. The past four years I have run my own horror promotional group and site called The Living Dead Girls and have partnered with many horror organizations like The West Coast Haunters Convention, Coffin Cruisers, Portland Halloween Bazaar, Emerald City Comic Con, and pretty much all local Haunted Houses. I have written for horror sites like Gorehound and Horror Oregon," Uutela said.
Although more and more publications are switching to online only there is much to be said about seeing a publication on paper and feeling the magazine in-hand.
Uutela said, "Horror magazines are unfortunately a dying breed, so we hope more than anything we can help revive the demand for horror magazines and for fans love of old-school horror."
