The incredible music of "Metallica: Through the Never" creates a fantastic concert movie with a small story on the side.
Metallica delivers a performance to remember, which is no surprise, as the story that connects the performances together adds to the excitement.
Starting off with a high octane performance by Metallica, which leaves audiences yearning for more, and an introduction to the main character, a roadie named Trip, played by Dane DeHaan, is thrilled to be working for Metallica.
Soon he is pulled away from watching the magnificent performances and is sent out on a chaotic journey.
Metallica plays song after song as Trip makes his way through a troublesome world which filled with rioting citizens and a warrior horseman to take a gas container to a stalled truck with a mysterious package for Metallica.
The warrior horseman hunts down some of the rioters and hangs them before setting his sights on Trip.
Trip continues on the journey which coincides with Metallica's set list nicely. They story contributes to the intensity and raw emotion of each song.
Trip finds himself struggling to stay safe and out of sight from the warrior horseman and the rioting citizens.
Once finding the truck with the mysterious package things only intensify as Trip has to make his way on foot back to Metallica.
There's no need to say it, but Metallica proves that they have only become more prominent as musicians through out the years.
Lead vocalist and rhythm guitarist James Hetfield provides sting powerful vocals that combine with the raw emotion in every song lyric to capture the attention of audiences.
Kirk Hammett rips through guitar riffs with incredible precision and impeccable accuracy. As lead guitarist Hammett has not lost a step through out his iconic career.
Bassist Rob Trujillo rocks the bass and adds his unique bass style to the sound of Metallica. Trujillo steps out into an incredible production and performs the bass riffs o classic Metallica songs incredibly well.
Lars Ulrich shows that although there has been some time that has passed since Metallica first hit the small Irish pub in Downey California, where Metallica first handed out their demo tape some time ago, he can still dominate those drums like no other drummer can. Ulrich shows that age has not slowed him down or worn him out as he continues to be a force to be reckoned with as the drummer for Metallica.
DeHaan does good in being a fan of Metallica and in the brief glimpses of the struggle his character Trip endures to return Metallica's bag.
The ending is fantastic and leaves audiences wanting more, but in a good way.
I give this film a 5 out of 5 Popcorns. So far, this year has seen some good blockbuster movies, but this film is the only one that is worthy of watching again and again on IMAX 3D. The production for the concert is just outrageous. The 3D actually submerges the audience into the Metallica concert experience. The music needs no review as Metallica has proven over the past 30 plus years that they dominate when it comes to hard rock metal music.
"Metallica: Through the Never" is out in IMAX 3D in select theaters now and gets a wide release on October 4.
