Vin
Diesel takes the "Riddick" franchise back to its roots in the latest
third installment, "Riddick,"
out in theaters this Friday.
Vin
Diesel triumphs in executing the most intense and well thought out installment
in the "Riddick" franchise.
Years
after "The Chronicles of Riddick" end, as Riddick, played by Vin
Diesel, yearns to visit his home world of Freya he lets his guard down and gets
abandoned on a deserted planet.
He
regrets allowing himself to go weak and "commit the worst sin
imaginable," which is become "civilized."
The
struggle inside him leads Riddick to find himself again. He relearns the ways
of his past and relentlessly go after his goals of getting off the planet and
finding his home world.
Riddick
allows two groups of mercenaries to the deserted world.
The first
a group of misfits lead by Santana, played by Jordi Mollà , and second-in-command and muscle Diaz, played by Dave
Bautista, with four more in the group.
The
second group of professionals lead by Boss Johns, played by Matt Nable, and
second-in-command and sexy badass Dahl, played by Katee Sackhoff with their
small group.
Both
teams are there for different reason but both hunt the feared Riddick.
The
acting by Vin Diesel is just great as he takes Riddick back to the primal beast
he was in "Pitch Black." The story is just amazing, writer and
director David Twohy takes this story and combines everything good from the
previous films to seam together a magnificent film.
The only
female, Dahl, played by Sackoff is as deadly as she is hot. The fierceness in
this woman is equaled by the sex appeal. It's just a breathe of fresh air to
see a woman with a great physique be able to go toe-to-toe with every one of
the male characters in this film and look like she can take them down.
This film
concludes with a well thought out end. It will satisfy fans that have seen the
films that lead to this one and is still a complete film that is sure to bring
new fans to the franchise.
I give
this film a 5 out of 5 Popcorns. It's got everything it needed, including the
"R" rating due to not just the Riddick violence but the intensity if
the story. Sackoff is just breathe-taking and has some hot scenes. It's
incredible what this film leads up to and with this ending I would predict fans
will want more "Riddick."
