LOS ANGELES, CA – November 7, 2013 – impreMedia, the leading Hispanic news and information company in the U.S., announced today that Chief Executive Officer Monica Lozano was awarded the 2013 Poder Magazine “Lifetime Achievement Award.” The Poder Awards ceremony was held Wednesday, November 6, at the Ritz Carlton in Miami, Florida. Other honorees included former President of Brazil Fernando Cardoso and international superstar Ricky Martin.
Created by PODER magazine in 2002, the PODER Awards celebrate excellence in leadership in the Americas by recognizing those men and women who have demonstrated remarkable strategy, vision, and execution in their respective businesses and organizations; those who are changing or can change the region’s development dynamics and producing systemic change in their own communities through social entrepreneurship, sustainability and philanthropy. Past Lifetime Achievement Award recipients include Emilio Estefan, Miami Dade College President, Eduardo Padron, and recording artist Juanes.
"The impreMedia family is tremendously proud to have our own Monica Lozano and her living legacy recognized, said COO Francisco Seghezzo. “These awards are not only a testament to the indelible mark she already has left both as a trailblazer and a trusted community partner but also to the type of dedication, resolve and leadership that will continue to put impreMedia front and center and catapult it to even greater success.”
As CEO and Chair of the Board, Lozano is leading the transformation of impreMedia to a fully integrated, multi-media Hispanic content company. She has served as the CEO since May 24, 2010. Previously, she was Senior Vice President overseeing its publishing group. She began her career in media with La Opinión in 1985 and worked her way up to the position of Publisher and CEO of La Opinión, a title that she continues to hold. Lozano is widely regarded as one of the most influential Latinas in the country serving on the boards of corporate and non-profit boards Bank of America, the Walt Disney Company, the University of Southern California, the Weingart Foundation, and the Rockefeller Foundation. She recently served on President Obama’s President’s Council on Jobs and Competitiveness.
Last month, Hispanic 100 also recognized Lozano with a “Lifetime Achievement Award” at black-tie gala held September 27th at the Island Hotel in Newport Beach, California. Hispanic 100 is a non-profit organization designed to develop and promote leadership from within and from the Hispanic community and to advance free enterprise principles through advocacy and educational activities that impact the Hispanic population as it relates to the overall social and economic good.
