The video for "Orgullo," recorded in New York City under the direction of Fernando Lugo, tells a story of conquest in which J Quiles plays a photographer who circumstantially is part of various encounters with the woman he wants to captivate. By personifying the character of a classic style photographer, he gets away from the digital space and uses classic techniques: the film, the dark room, and a vintage process to capture her attention. The barrier between photographer and model is broken to create a story and narrative that unfolds itself along the video. "Orgullo" the song, manifests a confession of love to a woman that despite her distance, has sparked strong feelings. About J Quiles J Quiles belongs to a generation influenced by hip-hop and urban music. At an early age this young man who was born in Bridgeport, Connecticut understood that the music would be the main vehicle to express his ideas. At the age of five he settled in Aguadilla, Puerto Rico along with his mother escaping from strong family matters and finding in the music his main refuge. His toys were soon displaced by the music and in the streets of the barrio Villa Linda he first heard the sounds of well-known urban music artists like Vico C, Tempo and The Bambinos, among others, who sparked the passion for rap and composition. After graduating from high school in 2007, classrooms were replaced by recording studios where he dutifully continued composing and creating original melodies and lyrics. This is how he became a household name among local promoters. His self-taught recordings which were released virally paved the way to explore new musical territories. He made his first official record, "Se Safó," alongside Genio & Baby Johnny; the song became a hit on the digital radio giving him a name on the lists of new urban talents. Soon after J Quiles recorded "Algo Contigo," a song that became his first digital single with the video directed by Fernando Lugo. Having accumulated over 3 million views on YouTube, J Quiles caught the attention of Rich Music, the new Latin label of E One, with whom he got his first record deal. CONNECT WITH J QUILES |
