"Javier El De Los Llanos," written by Edén Muñoz
In a highly unusual accomplishment, a corrido has hit #1 on Billboard's Regional Mexican Airplay chart. Titled "Javier El De Los Llanos" (Javier from the Plains), it's written by the SESAC Latina associate Edén Muñoz and performed by Calibre 50, the group he leads.
The album that it's taken from, Corridos de Alto Calibre (High-Caliber Corridos), was actually released over a year ago, but its staying power is apparent as "Javier El De Los Llanos" rises to #1on the charts for the first week of December, 2014.
Performed in the characteristic style of Calibre 50, this vivid song unfolds like a taut, well-thought-out movie.
In a statement, Calibre 50's label Universal Music notes, "The album that this song is taken from, Corridos de Alto Calibre, was released in October 2013, but the public continues giving it strong support," and it is one of the label's strongest sellers.
Not only is "Javier El De Los Llanos" #1 on the Billboard Regional Mexican Airplay chart, it's also #1 on the Monitor Latino and Media Base rankings, showing that this song leads the way in spins and total audience impressions in the United States.
"Javier El De Los Llanos" is #1 on Billboard's Regional Mexican Airplay chart for the week of December 6-12, 2014.
