“Walking Underwater Pt. 2” Coming November 26 via Dead Cherry –
Featuring MEGADETH’s Dave Ellefson and Soul Singer Loretta Heywood
Last November, dark rock project JOHNNY WORE BLACK released a new album, Walking Underwater Pt. 2, which features several tracks co-written and co-performed by Dave Ellefson (Megadeth).
Today marks the release of the group’s new music video for the track “Firefly” from the album. Available for viewing now exclusively via Loudwire.com: loudwire.com/johnny-wore-black-firefly-exclusive-video-premiere/.
The “Firefly” video features action-packed cartoon horror animation, created by up-and-coming animator Paul Solomons, the mastermind behind JOHNNY WORE BLACK’s 2012 “Noise” music video. The “Firefly” music video actually serves as a prequel to the “Noise” music video, which features many of the same characters.
JOHNNY WORE BLACK shares insight about the story behind the track, “The song is about building hope on unsteady ground. How the people around you watch you fall and have opinions on what you should do, but often don’t actually verbalize it or care to help, so you only have yourself in the end to rely on.”
He continues, “Paul, the animator, and I wanted to tell the story a different way, through the eyes of The Firefly, and the original vibe was based around the Frankenstein story and also building on the characters used in our video for “Noise”. It’s a cartoon about people, about life and about love and loss – it’s basically a story about life after death… or is that life after love?”

Pulling inspiration from his work on the silver screen (having worked as a stuntman in films like Les Miserables, The Dark Knight Rises, Fast and Furious 6 and most recently, Fury with Brad Pitt), JOHNNY WORE BLACK ‘the artist’ has created his own brand of dark, atmospheric musical intrigue.
As mentioned above, "Walking Underwater Pt. 2" features the one and only Dave Ellefson of “Big 4” heavy metal titans Megadeth, as well as a few additional guest appearances from Croatian singer Sara Renar, and renowned soul singer Loretta Heywood. Both esteemed artists bring a new level of undeniable credibility and brooding, haunting sounds that JOHNNY WORE BLACK is based on.
See what the press is saying about “Walking Underwater Pt. 2”:
“It reminds me of late 80’s college rock rather than metal because of the slightly gothic, brooding feel of the songs. I was captured by the first tune, “Firefly”, almost immediately.”– KNAC.com
