The NYC Independent Film Festival celebrates true independent cinema.
The non-profit organization's mission is to support independent filmmakers and showcase the best independent films, from all around the world, to the public and the entertainment industry in New York City.
The NYC Independent Film Festival offers these artists a forum, giving access to panels, networking events, seminars and workshops for filmmakers, producers, actors and industry professionals.
"The selection of panels and seminars are wide ranging and are going to be very informative as well as helpful for the indie filmmakers," Dennis Cieri, Executive Director and Founder of the NYC Independent Film Festival, said. The Best of Festival Awards ceremony will take place at the end of festival, recognizing the superlative of each category: Best Director, Best Cinematography, Best Short Screenplay, Best Narrative Feature, Best Documentary, Best Animation, Best Short Documentary, Best Short Film, Best Super Short Film, Best Music Video, Best Actor, and Best Actress. A board of indie movies professionals selects the winners.
This year's batch of over 300 films set to screen during the festival include international submissions ranging from super short films to narrative features.
"I have no doubt that this is the best festival we have ever presented. The level of the submissions we had received this year made it very hard to reach a final selection," Cieri, said. Some highlights from this year's films include "Wildlike," "Keep In Touch," "Get Happy - The Film," "Girl On The Edge," "Women Of 69," "Southern Rites," "My Kingdom," "A Warm Spell" and others.
