Nine actors play several different characters in 16 short plays which make up the funny presentation of "Drunk Girl and other stories your mother warned you about becoming."
The segments range from a spontaneous game show style skit to serious monologues, but, silly or serious, the segments relay the theme of sexual abuse.
The two-hour production doesn't feel lengthy, the time passes by quickly as the performances are enjoyable.
Actress Maia Villa performed in several of the plays and is able to capture the differences in each character well. She's phenomenal to watch and can get into the seriousness of the theme and the silliness of some skits well.
The plays are dominated with females the few male actors do a good job of supporting the scenes and taking the lead when appropriate.
Samuel Solorio has the difficult task to be vulnerable in one of the sections and then the aggressor in another. He manages to switch characters and create a different mood and movement for each character.
Rosa Lisbeth Navarette does the same, but does it in a higher intensity. From a headstrong masculine character to a sexy seductress burlesque dance and even a timid girl, Navarette fits each role being each character and capturing the attention of the audience.
Melissa Perl gives one of the most outrageous performances in one section, but also one of the moist profound in another. The audience can empathize with Perl on her performance and may bring tears to some of the audiences' eyes.
Jasia Topete is hilarious in her comical roles, but she can grab the audiences' attention with her serious rollers too. She is another performer who was a pleasure to watch.
The play centers around the theme of sexual abuse and although it has it's comical moments the seriousness of the theme is never lost or belittled.
Each section of the play, whether serious or comical, respects the theme and is fitting without being overly critical.
Although the abuse is centered around women who were abused by men, the play is hardly male bashing, but rather helps educate on the mindset women have due to the abuse men do not consider.
