Friends, family and colleagues of Grammy-Award winning producer Urales Vargas (AKA DJ Buddha), will gather Nov. 8 in Weehawken, NJ to support the BEYOND Scholarship, a fund of the Essex County Community Foundation, for a fundraiser to raise funds and awareness about the needs of students.
After redefining the pop music genre with his notable fusion of world music and selling over 15 million singles and topping Billboard Charts repeatedly, DJ Buddha created the BEYOND Scholarship, which work tirelessly to offer funding and to provide tuition assistance to local kids with big dreams.
"I had to overcome a significant amount of obstacles in my lifetime, but thanks to the Boys & Girls Club of Lawrence, I knew I had the resources to create opportunities and succeed. Children shouldn't be discouraged at such a young age because of unfortunate circumstances. If you're in a position to help them succeed, you should," DJ Buddha said. The event will be held in the upstairs lounge of Charritos Restaurant in Weehawken, NJ from 6:00-9:00 p.m. and include open bar, a buffet, a series of acoustic performances and a raffle sponsored by local vendors including L'Oreal, Powerflow Yoga of Hoboken, Sushi Lounge of Hoboken, Maxus Nails, Party Tizers, and Dolly Moo of Montclair. Some of the performers include Randy Whisky, Valentino, Lalo Resendiz & Gina and Andrea Martin.
Tickets are $100 and are available online.
