Darius said, "'In the Shadow of the Death-Bird's Wing' is mostly about the time I went crazy in a cabin by myself in the Sangre de Cristos mountains of northern New Mexico. I had gotten commissioned to write an opera and I thought I'd brave the winter up there alone and write the world's greatest music." He continued, "I lasted 6 whole weeks before I was convinced these shadowy Mountain Men were coming to get me. They were in collusion with the bats, whom they had trained to unnerve me. I told my sister all about it and she begged me to come down from the mountain before the first snows, so I packed up and moved to Los Angeles instead. "DARIUSTX V. "The Angels of Goliad" is the fifth studio album from DARIUSTX, a project he has worked on for years while composing for film and TV, as well as producing and touring.
Darius produced the record himself, and it was mixed by Ryan Rees (CeeLo Green, The Ting Tings), and mastered by Adam Boose (Dawes, Conor Oberst, The Velvet Underground).
