Join Kyan Douglas on this heart-warming journey as we travel the landscape of style, both old and new, as well as the legacy of grooming. The American Barber premiered Feb. 6 on THEAMERICANBARBER.TV.
A guru of style, Kyan Douglas discovered a renaissance was occurring amongst the artisans and craftsmen in the heartland of American business.
He wanted an up close look at the front lines, so in the fall of 2015, Douglas embarked on a journey that began at Lucky's Barbershop in Concord, NH.
Douglas had no idea what he was in for.
"My journey allowed me to meet men and women who do so much more than cut and style hair. They are ministering to people's souls from a barber's chair. They are the pillars of their community," Kyan Douglas said.In the first five episodes Douglas travels along the eastern seaboard from New Hampshire to Miami where we meet Will Brown of Philadelphia, a fifth generation barber whose shop has successfully crossed the color lines in a racially divided city and Elena Linares of Miami, a battered wife who started with nothing and has turned her barbershops into some of the most successful franchises in the city.
"I am proud to be a part of an authentic depiction of one of the oldest (and fastest growing) businesses in the world... a profession that continues to set trends for the modern gentleman, his style and his taste for good products," Joann Kuno, FOUNDER AND CEO of JS Sloane Gentlemen's Grooming Products, said. The American Barber will be the first of many independently produced programs with Douglas and Madwood Studios.
Madwood focuses on producing content with brands and allows its clients the creative freedom to explore the topics they are most passionate about.
"Kyan's love for trends, travel and adventure was the perfect opportunity for us to create and launch his new series online," Michael Flutie, Executive Producer, Maywood Studios, said. The American Barber is directed by Jarod Shannon, produced by Madwood Studios and Executive Produced by Michael Flutie in association with Joann Kuno.
