The world famous Harlem Globetrotters officially opened the doors to their new corporate offices in Atlanta on March 14, with star players on hand for the christening.
Herschend Enterprises (HE), which purchased the Globetrotters in October 2013, announced this past July that the team's corporate headquarters would relocate to Atlanta, site of the corporate offices of HE, the largest family-owned themed attractions company in the U.S. Based in Phoenix since 1995, the Globetrotters' move to Atlanta is expected to be fully completed by the summer.
As part of the grand opening, the Globetrotters also announced a partnership with Delta Air Lines. The collaboration includes having content on Delta Studio™, the in-flight entertainment platform. Starting in April, passengers on domestic and international flights will be able to immerse themselves in the Globetrotters' unique brand of family entertainment by watching Globetrotters games, players smashing world records, trick shots and ball handling wizardry from locations across the U.S.A., and much more.
"We are excited to officially open the doors to our new Atlanta office and announce a partnership with another great Atlanta-based company in Delta Air Lines," Harlem Globetrotters President Howard Smith said. "Being in co-location with Herschend Enterprises' headquarters in Atlanta provides the perfect environment and resources for continued strategic growth."
Karl Mawhinney, vice president, global corporate partnerships for the Globetrotters, said, "Our new partnership with Delta Air Lines aligns two brands that are synonymous with globetrotting and is the natural result of two companies specializing in global travel coming together."
The celebration of the Harlem Globetrotters' 90th year of providing smiles, sportsmanship and service to millions continues in cities across North America during the team's 2016 world tour.
