A young Miami Herald journalist is befriended by Ernest and Mary Hemingway and witnesses Hemingway's decline into depression and alcoholism with the backdrop of the Cuban Revolution.
"PAPA" is the first Hollywood film to shoot on location in Cuba since the 1959 revolution.
The film marks a watershed moment in that Yari and his multinational crew filmed almost entirely in and around Havana, Cuba.
A cultural milestone, helmed by an American director with Hollywood actors, a film of this significance has not been produced in Cuba in over 50-years.
Bob can speak to the incredible hurdles he and his team had to overcome to shoot down there – including getting rights from State Department to shoot in Cuba based on "documentary," and the access the crew had to shoot in Hemingway’s original Cuban home.
This exclusive access had never been granted before to any feature production – or even the public.
