AXS TV is stepping into the made-for-television movie business, partnering with cult film production company The Asylum (The SHARKNADO Franchise, Z NATION) to deliver the exciting new conspiracy thriller "ELVIS LIVES!," which is currently starting pre-production.
This will be the first film for the Network, expanding a wide-ranging programming lineup that already includes exclusive live music events, groundbreaking interview specials, critically acclaimed premieres, hard-hitting MMA action, and more.
"ELVIS LIVES!" takes the legend of rock n' roll icon Elvis Presley to the next level, bringing one of the most infamous conspiracy theories to life and asking the question, What if Elvis never really left the building? Plagued by a heavy drug addiction and his failing voice, The King is desperate to make things right with himself, his deceased brother and God.
His attempts to get back on track are thwarted, however, after he helps the cops bring down a powerful crime syndicate—putting his family in danger and sending him on a journey that will change his life forever.
AXS TV founder and CEO Mark Cuban commissioned the film after working with The Asylum on SHARKNADO 3 (2015), in which he played Marcus Robbins, the President of the United States.
The Asylum's partners Paul Bales, David Michael Latt and David Rimawi will produce along with David Garber.
The Asylum will also handle worldwide sales on the film.
"With ELVIS LIVES! we intend to do for the life of Elvis Presley what SHARKNADO did for flying sharks," Asylum president and conspiracy theorist David Rimawi said.
"When the decision was made to develop AXS TV's first original made-for-TV movie, I knew I had to get The Asylum team involved because it was a great experience working with them on SHARKNADO 3," Mark Cuban, AXS TV CEO, said. "They're the perfect fit to bring this wild ride to life, as we celebrate the life and legacy of the The King's reign, crafting a unique and original storyline that explores the well-known conspiracy theories and allows our viewers to form their own conclusions."
The Asylum is one of the world's leading brand-oriented motion picture and television studios.
With a focus on high-concept, market-driven entertainment, like the SHARKNADO franchise and the popular Z NATION television series, The Asylum finances, produces and releases 25 films per year through its direct pipeline to the nation's top retailers and its network of international partners.
Since its founding in 1997, The Asylum has released more than 500 films and has built a library of over 200 original productions, including top-rated movie premieres for Syfy, Lifetime, and Animal Planet networks.
In addition, The Asylum has begun production on Season 3 on Syfy's highest-rated scripted show, Z NATION, a critically-acclaimed action-horror series.
