Folk-tronic trio Olive Tiger is thrilled to premiere their new single “Dark” exclusively on GroundSounds.

Olive said, “‘Dark’ is an exultation of all the twinkly serendipity and impossible beauty of the late-night hours between 1am-5am, when everything is bursting open and simultaneously subdued in a quiet riot and the mind shifts to accommodate possibility and magic. As a musician, these hours are precious to me and represent a connection to another sphere, like an alternate reality, in which creativity flows and my muse is never far. But the song is also about experiencing the abrupt juxtaposition between that world and the morning, when the bustle of ‘normal’ life resumes and the connection dissipates.”Earlier this year, the band unleashed their debut single “Find Myself” in addition to announcing the release of their debut album "Until My Body Breaks" set for later this summer.
Those who’ve had a chance to see the group live notice the “culminations of strings” and “fierce solos” which Neat Beet describes as a “definite attention-grabber.”
They are set to perform at The Telegraph in Connecticut as well as The Way Station in Brooklyn on June 11.
Olive’s haunting vocals are backed by seductive rhythms with an electronic tinge.
The result lands somewhere between My Brightest Diamond, tUnE-yArDs, St. Vincent and Andrew Bird.
The group, which once consisted of up to 7 people, is now made up of Olive (vocals/guitar/cello/looper), Jesse Newman (violin) and Dane Scozzare (drums). The New Haven Independent says, the “layerings and lilting” in Olive’s voice “recall Florence Welch, Fiona Apple, Andrew Bird and Iron & Wine.”
