Museum members and fans are invited to watch the race live in the Bruce Meyer Family Gallery while select three-person teams will also get the chance to compete in a three-hour endurance race in the new Ford GT race car on the Petersen's Forza Motorsport 6 simulators.
Tickets can be purchased HERE.
"Most of the staff at the Petersen are huge racing fans and there is no bigger race for us than the 24 Hours of Le Mans," Petersen Chief Marketing Officer, Adam Langsbard said. "We are extremely excited to have the opportunity to celebrate this race with our members and with our partners in Microsoft, Michelin, and Ford and look forward to putting on many more events like this one for our new Forza Motorsport Membership Pass holders. We are also thrilled to unveil the new interactive sliding wall from Michelin and know that it will be an immensely popular addition to the museum."Michelin has donated an incredible interactive sliding video wall that lets museum-goers see up close what goes into turning a factory car into a race car.
Located outside of the Forza Motorsports Racing Experience on the museum's second floor, the custom-designed system uses a lightweight aluminum slider that will "scan" a background image of a factory car and illustrate on a 65-inch high-resolution touch screen all of the mechanical and aesthetic differences while also providing interactive demonstrations of the changes on a variety of cars, including the 2017 Ford GT.
"We're thrilled to be getting involved with a world class institution that inspires people like the Petersen," Director of Ultra-High Performance at Michelin North America, Oscar Pereda said. "The Petersen Museum is doing incredible work by spreading the passion for the automobile and the technology behind it to the public. Michelin has a long and successful history of working with top vehicle manufacturers and race teams and this new partnership with the Petersen is going to be a great way to help relay how Michelin transfers technology from the track to the street."The museum will also unveil its new Forza Motorsport Membership Pass at the Le Mans event.
This pass is an add-on to an existing student, individual or dual membership that allows members to race against fellow members at the Petersen in a variety of monthly competitions.
