For those who enjoy older slower paced films "Dark Angel: The Ascent" is a great watch.
The story isn't a complex story, it's a great anti-hero story of demon Veronica, played by Angela Featherstone, who tries to do good by being judge, jury and executioner, but she's doing it for what she thinks is the right reasons.
Featherstone can seem soulless and cold, but that is just what the character seems to be. It's a very restrained portrayal of a confused character who is trying to figure out her place in the world.
The criminals seems like characters out of a dark Dick Tracy movie, or even more cheesy.
The plot is stretched out and scenes seem to take longer than needed, but for some reason they work to entertain well.
The action in the film is lacking.
The special effects are strange an bizarre, but still audiences can be entertained throughout.
The twists and turns are farfetched with major leaps of faith needed to be taken.
The ending to this movie is strange and really cannot be explained without giving much of the final act away.
I give this cult classic a 2 out of 5 Popcorns. With all the flaws and plot holes, the story is still entertaining and there is definitely an audience for this movie. There's action, mystery, dilemmas and more in this story which can grab the attention of audiences. There's definitely an element which will make most people watching this movie want to watch it to conclusion.
