The "Ghost in the Shell" live action movie trailer has been released at a special event in Tokyo on Nov. 13.
This had me excited when it was green lit, now with this trailer I cannot wait for it to come out in theaters in 2017.
It is not an exact copy of the anime, which I've been a fan of and watch multiple times throughout the year, but it has some elements to make fans happy and keeps some of the mystery which makes the anime incredible.
I am hoping that the complexity of the Major is kept the same because it is what draws the audience to the story the most.
In celebration of the upcoming film GHOST IN THE SHELL, stars Scarlett Johansson, "Beat" Takeshi Kitano, and director Rupert Sanders joined fans and influencers from across the globe in Tokyo on Nov. 13 for the film's global launch party. This starts off where the Stand Alone Complex series does, which means much of the back story will probably not be told, but from what this trailer shows the movie will be good.
Opening with Taiko drummers, including the legendary anime film composer Kenji Kawai, the event held at TABLOID began with a screening of never-before-seen footage from the film.
Attendees were given an exclusive behind-the-scenes
look at the costumes and props from the film, as well as an opportunity to capture their experience in a film-centric experiential photo booth - "Becoming the Major." The exciting show concluded with Johansson, Kitano, and Sanders debuting the film's global trailer, triggering its worldwide launch.
Based on the internationally acclaimed sci-fi property “GHOST IN THE SHELL” follows Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid, who leads the elite task force Section 9.
Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.
Having read many of the novels, manga and seen/own the anime, I am a complete fan of the "Ghost in the Shell" since it was also my introduction to anime.
Check out the trailer and let me know what you think in the comments.
