The Florida-Based Star packs "Gorgeous, Harmony-Laden Country Ballads Alongside Smoky Dive-Bar Riffs" As She Vies For a Chance To Sing For the Masses and Plans Follow-Up to 2016’s “Cruel Mother” EP
Following the release of 2016’s EP “Cruel Mother”, whose title track was named in the "Best Songs of 2016" by the Miami New Times, singer-songwriter Edan Archer has hit the ground running in 2017 with shows from Miami to Nashville.
But the rising star, who’s music has been described as “a Southern Gothic fever dream,” seems to have a ton more in store.
She was chosen as one of 6 artists across the country to compete in Southwest Airlines' Live@35 series where musicians perform during commercial plane flights at 35,000 feet.
She's currently competing with the other participants for a shot to play songs from her new, up-coming record at Red Rocks Amphitheater in Colorado.
She's announcing new live performances up the East Coast and heading into the studio for the follow up to "Cruel Mother."
Edan Archer’s introduction to music started at a very early age, in her hometown of Gainesville, Florida.

She and her sisters (known as the Howlin’ Cooks) would accompany their parents to church choir, as well as to local picking parties where they sang harmonies to folk classics from Woody Guthrie and Bob Dylan and traditional Appalachian murder ballads like the EP’s title track “Cruel Mother.”
The family group soon graduated to playing music festivals throughout northern Florida before she was 10.
With a voice that has “the duality of moonshine and honey,” Archer can get gritty with dirty, down-home rock, or cast a spell with an intimate, confessional ballad.

Her guitar style stays true to the alt-folk genre with intricate finger picking, alternate tunings, and rich effects.
Her latest EP, 2016’s “Cruel Mother,” co-produced by Archer and Fernando Perdomo (Jakob Dylan, Emitt Rhodes, Andy Pratt), offers 5 lushly arranged songs, with Southern soul and just a bit of rock edge.

The album’s songs have been featured on globally syndicated Blues and Roots Radio, The Secret Garden and Wee Dan’s Hoose radio shows, as well as Miami’s WLRN and Gainesville’s WGOT.
As she dives head-first back into the roots music she loves, Archer has also set up a GoFundMe Page in support of her newest album and is hoping her fans can chip in saying: “I'm reaching out to friends and fans in case anyone would like to contribute to the record. Any amount will help, and will contribute to studio time, making merch, printing a limited edition vinyl, and paying musicians.”With so much in store for this rootsy, country and folk star with a rock and grunge tinge, keep an eye out for her Live@35 contest entry, and NEW MUSIC in 2017.
