The movie premiered at TCL Chinese 6 in Hollywood last week and cast attending included Nadia Jordan, Rex Lee, Paul Provenza, Ben Gleib and Henry Hereford. George Clooney’s co-owned Casamigos Tequila, which is featured in the movie, sent hundreds of miniature bottles of tequila to surprise the attending audience with when they exited the theater.
“For the Love of George” is a comedy set in 2014. Poppy Wakefield (Nadia Jordan, Cold Empty Hearts) works as a freelance journalist in England for outspoken editor Sharon (Marina Sirtis, Star Trek The Next Generation).
Her seemingly perfect life is shattered when she discovers her husband Stephen (Henry Hereford, The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo) is having an affair. When she receives a well-timed invitation to visit her friend Justin (Rex Lee, Entourage) in Los Angeles, she takes off on a quest to cross paths with who she believes is the perfect man – George Clooney! On her quest she meets a host of interesting and colorful characters including celebrity therapist Dr. Faye (Rosanna Arquette, Pulp Fiction) and her ditzy receptionist Stacy (Ruth Connell, Supernatural), the unconventional Psychic Sara (Kristen Johnson, 3rd Rock from the Sun), Californian golden boy Luke (Shaun Sipos, The Vampire Diaries) and sleazy Hollywood producer (timely indeed!) Alvin Kooney (Tate Donovan, Argo).
Through a series of close encounters with Clooney, funny adventures and the odd emotional breakdown, Poppy learns to navigate her future without needing a man - no matter how seemingly perfect.
“As well as paying tribute to the ever charming Mr Clooney the story has a female empowerment, theme which is both timely and relevant given the strength women are showing across the world right now,” producer Nadia Jordan, who co-wrote the screenplay with Hayley Nolan. “And with the current gender equality discussions that are taking place in the entertainment industry it was important to me to enlist as many talented women as I could, both in front of and behind the camera.”
Two of those talented women include director Maria Burton (who stepped in just 8 weeks prior to filming) and award winning DP Arlene Nelson.
Jordan credits the unique indie comedy feature as being inspired by George Clooney and his humanitarian work.

“The inspiration to write the screenplay came after reading Don Cheadle and John Prendergast’s book ‘Not on Our Watch,’ which suggests readers get creative with ways in which to spread the charity’s mission. I wanted to make something fun and lighthearted yet would still raise awareness to the charity,” Jordan said. The film has already been big a hit on the festival circuit receiving several nominations and awards including the coveted Audience Choice Award at the Chicago Comedy Film Festival.
A portion of the proceeds generated by “For The Love of George” will also be donated to the George Clooney supported non-profit the Enough Project (EnoughProject.org).
