Entering its third season of providing innovative and compelling, genre-bending musical experiences in Miami, Nu Deco Ensemble is kicking off their multi-performance arts partnership with The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County with a one-night performance featuring GRAMMY-winner Jacob Collier.
On Thursday, February 15, Nu Deco Ensemble performs in the Knight Concert Hall with a celebration of eclectic musical genres that is co-presented with the Arsht Center.
The night will feature George Gershwin's iconic Catfish Row from "Porgy and Bess" as well as a new exploration of Stevie Wonder's "Journey Through the Secret Life of Plants" by Artistic Director Sam Hyken.
The orchestra also welcomes GRAMMY-winning virtuosic multi-instrumentalist, Jacob Collier for his US orchestral debut.
"I'm thrilled to bits to be returning to Miami, and to be joining forces with the magnificent Nu Deco Ensemble. We'll be performing fresh arrangements of songs from my debut album, In My Room, which I cannot wait for you all to hear. See you there," Collier said.
With only two seasons under their belt, Nu Deco Ensemble has established themselves as leading purveyors of the musical paradigm shift happening in Miami. From the first packed house debut at Wynwood's The Light Box at Goldman Warehouse in April 2015, to successfully selling out two full seasons at a variety of unique and prestigious performance spaces across Miami including the iconic North Beach Bandshell and Frank Gehry's New World Center, Nu Deco has solidified their role as a boundary pushing ensemble that creates dynamic and transformative artistic experiences.
Working alongside intrepid guest artists such as Bilal, Danay Suarez, Kishi Bashi, Emily King and Time for Three; reimagining classical pieces such as Vivaldi's Four Seasons; and exploring contemporary classical compositions by rising composers the likes of Judd Greenstein, Paul Dooley, and Nicolas Omiccioli is what makes Nu Deco so compelling and a uniquely creative voice of artistic expression for society today.
