Indie distributor Anerke has acquired sci-fi fantasy "2050," starring David Vaughn and Supergirl’s Dean Cain and will release it in 10 theatrical markets beginning March 1.
The film, which unlike many indie releases will not be getting a day-and-date VOD, will open in Los Angeles March 1 then roll-out to other cities including Baltimore, Nashville, Houston and other cities over March and April.
"2050" tells the story of a married video game developer who is introduced to a warehouse that customizes androids for human companionship.
Dean Cain plays the role of Maxwell, the mastermind behind the warehouse.
Along with Cain, the film stars a strong ensemble of actors including Irina Abraham, Devin Fuller, Stefanie Bloom, Stormi Maya, Jace Nicole, Shannone Holt, Hope Blackstock and more.
The film has premiered at several genre film festivals including Berlin Sci Fi, Other World’s Austin, and Boston Sci Fi Film Festival on February 12.
Along the way, the film has won 10 awards, so far mostly for the performances and cinematography.
