If Merely's first two albums, in tarot terms, were her manifestations of The Warrior and The Queen, "Hatching The Egg" is The Wizard – a new incarnation of Merely, an amalgam of all of the best renderings of her past self painted with the backdrop of psychedelic, dreamy pop, shoegaze, chamber music, and subtle hints of progressive rock. Poetic and emotional elements serve as the foundation in her music where nothing is completely literal, but rather personal, sincere, and equivocal.
