Destiny Frasqueri, better known as rapper Princess Nokia, stars in the acclaimed romantic drama “Angelfish,” available this May on Tubi.
The film is produced by Robin Rose Singer, Rabia Sultana, Peter Lee, and Ricardo Vilar and also features actors Erin Davie, Rosie Berrido, and Stanley Simons.
Shot on location in the Bronx, New York, “Angelfish” is a coming-of-age love story between Eva (Frasqueri), a young Puerto Rican woman torn between her responsibilities to her family and her dreams, and Brendan (Jimi Stanton, the upcoming “Greyhound”), an Irish-American man dealing with family problems of his own.
The film is produced by Robin Rose Singer, Rabia Sultana, Peter Lee, and Ricardo Vilar and also features actors Erin Davie, Rosie Berrido, and Stanley Simons.
Frasqueri also serves as an executive producer on the project, along with Ruth Lapin, Robert I. Levine, Brent Finley, and Lawrence Gillet.
In “Angelfish,” Eva (Frasqueri), meets Brendan while in the midst of an immense amount of family pressure to pursue college and also to help her single mother (Berrido) care for her disabled brother (Ivan Mendez).
When the two fall in love, the weight of their individual worlds is temporarily relieved, until they are each forced decide between their new dreams and their old responsibilities.

People have never seen her like this before— they’ve only known her as Princess Nokia— and I feel honored to be able to introduce this side of her talent to the world through Angelfish.
