Jesus Figueroa, @Thisfunktional of ThisFunktional.com, talks with Actresses Paloma Petra and Erik Gutierrez Otto about Prime Video’s upcoming series LA LIBERACIÓN, premiering January 2025, at the closing night red carpet of the Guadalajara Film Festival. The lives of Carmen (a reporter), Sol (a producer) and Natalia (an actress) become intertwined when the threat of a harassment complaint against the renowned film director Lucas García-García, whose next project is a new adaptation of Medea for the big screen, endangers their plans. Preventing that Gaby’s complaint comes to light, takes them in the path of Lucero, a mysterious woman who runs a feminist group named La Aldea. The encounter with Lucero, in the midst of the so-called patriarchal wound ceremony, opens the conduit to a mental space that will take them on a journey into their inner selves. This journey through medieval settings filled with anachronisms where the witch figure is key, takes them to revisit and heal old wounds. A medieval pageant, a game in the woods and a castle in celebration, take the girls to the encounter of a Priest, the one who leads the crusade against witchcraft. The journey includes the presence of an enigmatic Blind Man and an ultra-conservative group, La Organización, of onvres. As said by a wise woman: Our time has come, welcome to the Liberation. The GuadaLAjara Film Festival (GLAFF) returns to Los Angeles for its 14th edition, running from November 1-3, 2024.
